I completely agree with what you're saying, but this isn' really a thematic statement. A thematic statement needs to include the words such as "often" and "sometimes". In the story, both the children and the home owner influenced each other to where they were being very cruel. The outcome wasn't a pleasant one, but human behavior is SOMETIMES affected by their surroundings.
Your thematic statement is correct. I agree with it because violence and aggression can cause uncontrolled behavior. But, just like what Ana said...you need to conclude "often" or "sometimes" because a thematic statement is mostly used in that format. Like for example, "Human natural behavior is often affected by the surroundings of violence and destruction because sometimes aggressive behavior may occur." Other than that, good job Duane!
