Sample Editorials

The Clear Case for the Gas Tax
1. The author’s clam is that the tax on gas should not be ended, but increased.

2. The author did offer adequate support of their claim. They had many different forms including statistics, support of political figures, and logical reasoning.

3. I do agree with the author,because our country is in debt and needs the money to put us back on track. The author does make a good point in that we need to stop depending on foreign fuel and more so on more efficient forms of transportation and putting taxes on gas does cause people to consider how they use this resource.

Ethics, Politics, and the New York Times
1. The author claims that the New York Times is making distorted statements about America’s Supreme Court and justice system.

2. The author did have adequate support if the reader had previous knowledge of the NYT articles and events discussed.  If the reader had no idea about NYT then the article didn't make much since

3. I disagree with what the author claimed, because the only reason that the author disagrees and is bashing NYT is because they have a different option the him

An Industry in Need of Accountability
1.That students shouldn't receive student aide if they don't look like they will graduate.

2. The author didn't really show much facts, but instead based it on his opinion.

3.I do agree with the author, because student loans are hard to come by and people that are not series shouldn't take the money, because they aren't going to use it wisely.

A Race to Repudiate Government
1. The author states that Republicans need to have extreme views if they want to survive in a political race.

2. The author does give support that supports his claim.

3. I do agree with the author.Republicans have to be able to make the level of democrats.

1. The author states in his editorial that the government is coddling the upper class of America by not taxing them as heavily as the Lower and Middle classes.

2.The author supports him claim with many metaphors and uses statistics to further that support.

3. I agree because if a person has more money then they should pay more taxes.

4. While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks.
